Emma’s dedication pays off

by Edited by Jimmy Rhatigan

EMMA Lawlor Castlecomer AC qualified for her first All-Ireland when she performed magnificently in the U18 Leinster Championship race in Bellurgan Park Dundalk.

She is now confirmed as Kilkenny’s sole representative in the National Championships Girls’ U18 race in Rosapenna Golf Course, Donegal on November 20.

This achievement is built on years of commitment as Emma has worked her way up the age groups in Kilkenny cross country competitions.

Emma perhaps epitomises the experience of running as described by Nelson Mandella when he referenced the diligence and discipline which he applied to his training as a runner – and which served him well in his later callings in life.

More good news is that James Kelly has been selected for the Masters’ Home Countries International.
This international, which has seen several cancellations over the past three years due to Covid, has finally re-emerged from exile and is being held in Santry on November 12.
Competing in the over-35s category, James Kelly (Castlecomer) has earned his first masters international vest.
