King Of Whisky Knows His Onions

by Jimmy Rhatigan

WHEN IT comes to whisky a world class Kilkenny bar manager certainly knows his onions.

He has awards to prove that he is top dollar in uisce beatha, translated water of life.

Padraic Rafter, manager at Pat Crotty’s Paris Texas, High Street has just been voted Global Bar Manager of the Year for the second successive year.

The competition, hosted by Whisky magazine, is titled the Icons of Whisky Awards.

Typical of Padraic, he credits the team at Paris Texas for his success at international level.

INCREDIBLE WHISKY COMMUNITY

He also puts his champion status down to what he calls the incredible whisky (whiskey too) community in Ireland.

In particular, he cites the melting pot created by the Kilkenny Whiskey Guild that includes like-minded aficionados and some of the best whiskey bars in the country.

Padraic is the captain of a highly professional and welcoming team at Paris Texas.

He is particularly proud of the huge range of whiskeys from all over the world that are on offer at the High Street bar and restaurant that boasts a sexy name.
