New recruits in action

THE COUNTY juvenile Track & Field as the County ‘B’ competition was held on the Thomastown GAA pitch, it’s regular mid-Summer timing and venue. 

In action for the first time were new recruits to the Castlecomer Club Charlie Dunne and Dion Mullen U8. 

Both competed very well in 80m sprints, 300m and Turbo Javelin. 

U9 representation was Shane Buggy, Joe Crennan, Ethan Renwick, Cillian Brennan and Darragh McGonglegy. 

U10s competing were Sean Dormer and Rebecca Staunton and at U11 was James Bourne. 

Ethan won the U9 sprint and 300m. Joe was third in the sprint.

Darragh was second in the Turbo Javelin as was

Rebecca.

Athletes appreciated the support of all who travelled. Special thanks went to super helpers, Daniel, Amy, Zara, Ellie and Ordhan.

Aisling and  Eimear Phelan and Sofia Kerr travelled to Tullamore to the  Leinster T&F  Championships. 

On Day 1 Aisling was tenth in the U13 Long Jump. Sofia placed third in her heat of the 100m and fifth in the final. 

Eimear competed in U17 100m and was part of the county relay team pipped on the line for bronze. 

Eimear returned to Tullamore on Sunday for the hurdles and won bronze.
