250 dancers rock the Watergate

by Edited by Jimmy Rhatigan

Some 250 dance students from Callan-based CMD Dance School did their utmost to blow Kilkenny City’s Watergate Theatre.

The group’s first ever end of year showcase, Rhythm in Motion, was a spectacular success.

Two shows, both full houses, delivered first class dancing from a variety of age groups and there were brilliant singing performances too.

Students aged 2 to 15 perform, some on stage for the first time, delighted with hip hop, lyrical, Acro and ballet.

The show consisted of solo, duo and trio performances as well as group dances. A majority of the solo and duo routines were choreographed by the students.

CMD is well known across the dance world in Ireland. It regularly wins top place trophies at competitions.

Proud owner of CMD Danceschool, Ciara McDonald, from Windgap told Kilkenny Press:

“I’m so incredibly proud of all of my students who performed on stage over the two shows. For many, it was their first time ever to perform on a stage and they did themselves proud.

“I’d like to thank the Watergate for having us and all of my students and their parents for their continued support. CMD is a very special place.”
